The Town of Pearisburg is currently accepting applications for following positions:


Town of Pearisburg Chief of Police: 

The Town of Pearisburg is recruiting for a professional, approachable, and innovative community leader to serve as the Chief of Police. The current Chief is retiring after a very successful 24-year tenure with the Town. The Police Department has 8 sworn officers (including the Chief) and one part-time administrative assistant. The department's annual budget, including salaries, is approximately $811,000.
The Chief of Police is appointed by the Town Council and works under the supervision of the Town Manager. The Chief plans, implements, and supervises all activities of the Pearisburg Police Department, including coordination with other law enforcement agencies. The Chief determines plans and policies to be observed in the conduct of police operations and performs general police work on the day shift.

Required Qualifications: Completion of standard High School Diploma and at least ten years of experience as a police officer. One year of which should have been in a supervisory capacity. Additional education and experience are desirable. Comprehensive knowledge of police administration and methods; thorough knowledge of scientific methods of crime detection, criminal identification and radio communication; ability to supervise and direct the work of others, deal tactfully and cooperatively with other law enforcement agencies and officials, and react quickly and confidently in emergency situations; good physical condition and appearance; completion of all statutory training requirements. Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license.
Salary: $59,506 - $85,903 depending on qualifications and experience.
