The Town of Pearisburg Police Department is currently taking applications for the position of Police Officer. Certification by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is preferred.
Job Description / Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as ordinances of the Town of Pearisburg. Ensures safety of public; enforces laws; investigates criminal activity; gather and process evidence; testify in court; prepare and maintain detailed records, files, and reports. Officers are required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Starting salary is $$43,672 with excellent benefits to include Anthem insurance, VRS retirement, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, paid overtime, Christmas bonus and a take home Police vehicle for officers that reside within Giles County is possible.
Virginia Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer is preferred, pass a rigorous background investigation, pass a physical agility test, and pass a psychological and a physical examination. Must be 21 years of age with a clean Virginia record and have no criminal history. Must possess a high school diploma. Having a college degree or college classes is highly acceptable.
